Previous sentence is not true." Otherwise there is no paradox.

I think this example follows along the lines of the previous examples (both in the original post and in the last two "UPDATE" sections). The key is to make explicit the implicit claims.

We can do this here by making explicit what the sentences are saying. The first sentence is saying that the second sentence is true, and the second sentence is saying that the first sentence is not true. So another way of putting the whole thing is to say that the first statement is saying, "This sentence is true and this sentence is also false." And now we're back to where we were in the original article. Rephrased in this way, we can avoid the paradox. We can say that "This sentence is true and this sentence is also false" is false, for contradictions cannot be true. There is no paradox in saying the statement is false when we've rephrased it in a more clear way. Or we can say that the sentence is meaningless, since it affirms a contradiction, and contradictions are meaningless. We could say either of these things, since they are both correct in different ways (as I laid out in the original article), and neither claim involves any paradox. So the problem is once again solved.Mark Hausamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07371790103414979060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-808697756426649418.post-58702088196075165862017-09-20T06:50:15.125-05:002017-09-20T06:50:15.125-05:00How about this paradox:
